Hara Zi
Book LessonHara is a dancer, actress, yoga teacher, and strong chess player born in sunny Athens, Greece and currently based in New York City. She began studying Chemical Engineering but soon was captivated by dance. After graduating a Professional Dance Conservatory in Athens, which was focusing on Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, and Jazz, she was awarded the Alexander Onassis Public Benefit Foundation Scholarship and came to New York to pursue her studies at the José Limón Institute. She then continued her dance training and movement research in New York as a scholar of Attica Tradition Educational Foundation. After moving to New York, she started exploring and training in different dance styles, improvising and creating movement, thinking of the body as an organic instrument with no limits, just expansions. In her exploration of partner dancing, she fell in love with Brazilian Zouk and has been performing and teaching it since 2018.
Some of her favorite credits include O’ahu Fringe Festival 2019, Honolulu Biennial 2019, Encuentro at Los Angeles Theater Center, BAM Fischer, TED Platform in Connecticut and TEDx Athens, Dancespace Project at St Mark’s Church, Rod Rodgers Dance Company, INTAR Theater’s Unit 52 Ensemble. She is a proud member of Dancers Unlimited since 2015 and currently also performs with ASTC: Alternative Synergy The Company. Hara is as passionate about teaching as she is about dancing. She wants to spread the love for movement and hopes to inspire people in the way that she was inspired by her teachers.
