DANCE STYLES
Salsa
Salsa is a lively, energetic dance that blends Latin rhythms with smooth, flowing movements. Its quick footwork, syncopated timing (quick-quick-slow), and partner connection make it both exciting and accessible for beginners. Salsa’s fun and social nature ensures it remains a popular choice for many dancers.
Tango
Tango is a dramatic and passionate dance with sharp, staccato movements. It focuses on close connection and precise footwork, making it unique compared to smoother styles like Waltz or Foxtrot. While Tango can be more intense to learn, its basic timing and strong rhythms make it manageable for beginners.
Cha Cha
The Cha Cha is a playful and rhythmic dance. It has a basic 1-2-3 Cha-Cha-Cha pattern that, once learned, can be applied to many steps. Its upbeat tempo makes it an enjoyable option for beginners.
Waltz
The Waltz is often considered one of the easiest ballroom styles to learn. It has a simple, slow, and graceful 3/4 timing (1-2-3) and basic patterns that are easy to follow, especially for couples. The flowing movements make it a great starting point for beginners.
Foxtrot
The Foxtrot has a smooth, elegant quality and features a simple walking rhythm (slow-slow-quick-quick). Its relaxed tempo makes it easy to grasp, and it helps build skills that translate to many other ballroom styles.
Swing (East Coast Swing)
East Coast Swing is fun, lively, and less formal than other ballroom styles. Its basic triple-step pattern is easy to pick up, and the energy of swing music adds to its accessibility for beginners.
