Intro to Brazilian Zouk class every 2nd Saturday before Z37!

Join Alex B for a fun intro class for beginners, to quickly become comfortable with the connection and basic movements of Zouk! The goal of this class is to enable students to join in and enjoy dancing at our social, while still focusing on the fundamentals techniques necessary to enable further study into more advanced movements.

WHAT IS BRAZILIAN ZOUK
Brazilian Zouk is a partner social dance developed first in Brazil and that slowly has been taking over the world. Among its distinctive characteristics, you will see a mix of playful footwork, body movements, and Brazilian Zouk’s unique head movements for followers. Today, almost every major city around the globe has a Brazilian Zouk scene of passionate dancers ready to embrace everyone that wants to join.

Brazilian Zouk can be danced to a very wide range of music styles from lyrical songs without a beat, to high-energy music with strong beats.

Meet The Host

Alex Breitweiser

Alex began dancing Zouk in 2019 and has trained internationally with world renowned instructors in Brazil, the US, and Europe. He began organizing and teaching at Zouk events during the pandemic in Philadelphia, and recently moved to New York where he is excited to help grow the local Zouk scene.

Hara Zi

Hara is a dancer, actress, yoga teacher, and strong chess player born in sunny Athens, Greece and currently based in New York City.
